Nokia N71 prototype story: historical context

The short answer

The archive records a photo withdrawal and a later source request; no prototype photographs or unverified private details are restored.

What's covered3

The page formerly at this address became a withdrawal notice for prototype-phone photographs. Its later update identified the handset as the Nokia N71. The surviving text is useful for understanding why an old link leads to a discussion of removed pictures rather than to a photo gallery.

What the archived notice says

The November 2006 capture shows a post dated October 25, 2005. The publisher said that lawyers acting for Nokia had contacted it about photographs of a private prototype. It said it had decided to take the images down.

That is the publisher's account of the request. The archived text does not include the private correspondence or establish a legal ruling. It can support a statement about what the page reported, without settling the rights attached to the missing photographs.

The November update

An update dated November 27, 2005 added that the source had independently asked for removal. It also said that the phone had since been announced as the Nokia N71. Both parts matter: the public announcement did not cause the page to restore the photographs, and the later source request was a separate reason for leaving them withdrawn.

Keep the original post date, update date and archive-capture date distinct when citing the notice. They describe three different points in the record. The fact that a product was later announced also does not establish that every earlier prototype detail matched the final retail model.

Why the missing pictures are not a hardware guide

There are no recovered prototype photographs here. The historical question is what happened to the old page, rather than what an unseen prototype proves about the finished device. Exact specifications should come from documentation for the retail model, not deductions from a withdrawal notice.

For present-day travel, use the phone compatibility reference and eSIM versus physical SIM comparison. The current travel guide starts with a phone and itinerary you can check today. The N71 notice remains a record of an earlier publishing event.
